There's always a strange feeling when part of your past is erased.

On a recent trip to Holland (where I grew up), I heard that they were replacing Marina Bay with condos.  It turned out to be true.

I spent the Summer after my senior year of high school working the gas dock on Lake Macatawa.

Maybe I should put quotation marks around the "working" part because there wasn't a whole lot of that.

Sure I had to fill boats with fuel and empty the holding tanks but I spent much of my time cleaning the pool or walking around the docks with a clipboard pretending to be busy.

Between the sunshine, the guests (and nieces of guests), the demo boats and hot tub, I racked up plenty of great memories, including many that are not suitable for broadcast.

Soon, that will be all that is left of Marina Bay.
